Jason Sanders
partner
Jason is the founder and managing partner at Sanders IP Law. He started his career at the legendary IP firm of Townsend and Townsend and Crew (now Kilpatrick Townsend) and later joined Maschoff Brennan as a partner. He has represented universities, large companies, and startups worldwide. He has acted as in house counsel for a few technology companies handling intellectual property, contracts, license agreement, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. He has vast intellectual property experience both domestically and internationally. Jason assists companies with patent protection in foreign locations ranging from China, Japan, and Korea, to Australia, Israel, South Africa, Brazil, Europe and beyond.
Jason also has thriving trademark practice. He manages a portfolio that includes US and foreign applications and registrations. He has successfully negotiated coexistence and consent agreements to settle Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) oppositions and in response to cease and desist letters. Jason represented Dirty Dough Cookies in the famous Utah Cookie Wars for various trademark, trade dress, and trade secret issues and was quoted in the Wall Street Journal discussing this case. He has also been quoted by Sports Illustrated for trademark issues surrounding Utah’s new Hockey Club.
Jason has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics from Utah State University and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to law school, he was the payload manager for a series of experiments that flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. Later he received a patent for his graduate research. While working as an associate, he founded two non-profit charter schools in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado: Ben Franklin Academy and Parker Performing Art School, each of which now enroll over 800 students. He currently sits on the board of Eagle harbor Technologies, EHT Ventures, Noviant Technologies, EHT Defense, and Kelvin Thermal Tech.
His pride and joy are his son and three daughters. If he’s not answering his phone, it’s probably because he’s on a ski slope in the mountains outside Salt Lake City or deep in a slot canyon in southern Utah.

Lance Jensen
Partner
Lance has a degree in electrical engineering and is proficient across a broad array of hardware and software-related arts.
Lance’s representative work includes prosecuting patents, preparing opinions, and providing intellectual property litigation support related to autonomous systems, ophthalmic machines, flash memory, quantum computing, blockchain technology, semiconductors, communication networks, as well as telecom standards, software and circuity.
In addition, Lance has performed extensive work prosecuting patents and managing IP portfolios related to systems testing, network security, and backend architecture. Lance is also well-versed in artificial intelligence technology, having worked extensively on the framework/architecture for artificial intelligence systems.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Lance worked for the U.S. Army developing technology for LIDAR systems used to detect chemical and biological weapons. Lance also took a wide array of classes as an undergraduate related to chemistry, biological engineering, antenna design, wireless communication and networking, CMOS design and layout, control systems, and analog and digital circuit design.
Lance loves spending time with his family, skiing, and boating.

Brian Parke
Partner
Brian Parke is a seasoned patent attorney with an electrical engineering background specializing in the strategic development and management of worldwide patent portfolios. With a deep technical foundation in electrical and software arts, Brian has served a diverse client base ranging from global enterprises to innovative midsize companies and startups. He has helped clients strategically expand global portfolios, secure high‑value patents, and navigate complex emerging‑tech issues.
Brian has significant expertise managing IP portfolios and prosecuting patents within areas such as semiconductors, wireless and communication systems, medical devices, analog/digital circuits, and enterprise software solutions. He is also knowledgeable in emerging technologies such as machine-learning, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and transformer-based AI architectures.
In addition to portfolio management, Brian prepares opinions, handles post-grant review proceedings, and offers technical litigation support.
Prior to law school, he worked at Micron Technologies developing in-house hardware and software solutions to test memory chips.
Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his family exploring the outdoors through backpacking, canyoneering, skiing, and boating.

Justin Marriott
Associate
Justin’s practice involves the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in technologies including electrical, software, and medical devices as well as chemical and life science technologies. Justin enjoys working with engineers, scientists, and inventors to learn about developing technologies, to protect their innovations, and help grow their businesses. Justin also has experience in preparing and prosecuting trademark registrations.
Justin is a registered patent attorney with a Bachelor of Science in biological engineering from Utah State University and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. Prior to law school, Justin was part of Fresenius Medical Care’s Biocompatibility team where he worked to characterize dialysis filtration systems.
In his spare time, Justin enjoys singing in choirs. He also loves to hike and ski along the mountains of Utah’s Wasatch Front.

During law school and in her early career, Katherine honed her skills in trademark prosecution, portfolio management, and dispute resolution, assisting clients with both domestic and international trademark matters.
Katherine is dedicated to a client-centered approach, empowering businesses to make informed decisions through clear communication and tailored legal strategies. Her enthusiasm for law stems from her love of critical thinking, tackling complex challenges, and crafting persuasive written advocacy. She has experience supporting clients in trademark oppositions, demand letters, consent agreements, and business transactions, ensuring their intellectual property aligns with their broader business goals.
Katherine earned her Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark School of Law in 2024, graduating with honors in the top 20% of her class. During her time there, she specialized in intellectual property, gaining hands-on experience through advanced coursework, clinical programs, and participation in IP-focused organizations. She was recognized on the Dean’s List multiple times for her academic excellence. Audri Payne
Head Paralegal
Audri does a little bit of everything for Sanders IP. Most importantly, she makes sure we are up to date on all our deadlines, files, and correspondences. She also handles all our filings at the USPTO. She started her career at Maschoff Brennan in Salt Lake City in 2014, and has been working with us ever since. If we need to get something done, Audri gets it done.
In her spare time, Audri likes doing home projects and traveling. You can also find her shooting hoops with her son, baking with her daughters or trying a new restaurant with her husband.

Adam Neville
COUNSEL
Adam Neville is an IP industry leader with over 13 years’ experience as a patent attorney and an engineer, providing guidance to large and small companies. Mr. Neville began his career with a well-known boutique IP law firm in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has worked for a global IP management company, and has run his own law firm. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as a rocket engineer with a leading aerospace and defense contractor.
Mr. Neville is an expert in developing patent portfolios, having managed asset and portfolio development for brand new companies and for some of the world’s largest companies. He has coordinated large and complicated asset development programs, in the US and internationally, and has helped to develop software targeted to aiding large and small companies develop more patent applications for filing and development.
Mr. Neville holds a JD with an emphasis in Law, Science, and Innovation, and was recognized as Law, Science, and Innovation Fellow for three years during law school. He also holds an MS in mechanical engineering and a BS in mechanical engineering. He is a member of the Patent Bar and the Utah Bar and is licensed to practice in the state of Utah as well as before the USPTO.
